To the Citizens of San Antonio, San Antonio is the greatest City in the world—not because of our skyline or the small town feel with a big town vibe, but because of our people. The residents of San Antonio have defined us over the last 300 years, no matter the side of town you come from, you are home, you are part of Our San Antonio.
We are a community of families who work hard, love deeply, and care about our neighborhoods. From the Westside to Stone Oak, from Harlandale to Hackberry, our story is written in service, sacrifice, and strength.
One path keeps us divided—City Hall is focused on politics and headlines, while affordability collapses, City services weaken, and public trust fades. The other path—the one we must take—puts people before politics and protects our hard working families so they can build the lives they want for themselves. When people are put first, the goals become clear: rebuild neighborhoods, restore accountability, and renew the promise that every person and family have the opportunity to build the life they choose in a town they are proud to call home.
Over the next decade this City will have a revitalized downtown and an expanded airport which should both generate City revenue and help grow San Antonio jobs. While sustained economic development should be a central part of our City strategy moving forward, at the same time we must ensure we deliver basic City services to our citizens at a first-rate level that improves their day-to-day quality of life.
This plan—Accelerate SA—is about taking control of our future. It’s not partisan or political. It’s practical. It’s a roadmap that any council, any mayor, and any citizen can follow to build our next decade of growth, safety, and prosperity.
“We’re doing fine” should no longer be good enough. It’s time to get to the promising future that awaits us.
“As neighborhood president, I hear first-hand how deeply our residents care about protecting the quality of life in our neighborhoods, and this vision reflects that. Councilman Marc Whyte’s plan shows a commitment to listening to neighborhoods and guiding growth in a way that works for the people who live here every day.”
Gina Eisenberg, Mom, Wife, and President of Oak Park Northwood Neighborhood AssociationFrom 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., City leaders field calls from business leaders around our City who are focused on the long term economic development of the City. But from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the time period where these same leaders attend neighborhood meetings around our City, our leaders hear from residents of our neighborhoods who are squarely focused on immediate fixes to the day to day issues they face (public safety, street issues, high prices, etc).
San Antonio is one of America’s fastest growing cities, but not one of its most prepared. Our infrastructure, public safety staffing, and wage growth have not kept pace with our expansion. Big economic development plans are good, but too many San Antonians feel overtaxed, underheard, and that City Hall is uninterested in improving their daily quality of life. Our challenge is to simultaneously create policy that invests in San Antonio’s future and addresses the immediate needs of our residents.
Make San Antonio the most affordable, safe, and opportunity rich City in America by 2036.
We can do better at City Hall—and we will. This is not a plan for the few. It’s a blueprint for the many—for working families, small businesses, veterans, and seniors who make this City run every day.
The next decade will define our legacy. Let’s make it a decade of action, not excuses.
“San Antonio’s next decade will be defined by how well we connect growth with opportunity. Accelerate SA sets an important direction, and the Greater Chamber is committed to helping turn these priorities into real results for our workforce, our businesses, and our neighborhoods.”
Jeff Webster, President of Greater Chamber of SA
